The Jimmy Fund Clinic follows the "family-centered care" philosophy of Dana-Farber founder Dr. Sidney Farber, assuring that a patient's psychological, family, and spiritual needs, as well as their medical needs, are met.

The Jimmy Fund Clinic includes:

  • An expansive infusion room with both shared and private spaces and various activity options.
  • Multiple consultation rooms to provide families private meeting spaces.
  • Procedure rooms designed to allow procedures such as spinal taps during patient appointments; the ability to provide sedation for procedures assures patient comfort and convenience.
  • The Blum Pediatric Resource Room, with resources for parents and activities and iPads for children and teens.
  • Its own independent pharmacy.

“Play Lady” is not a major you’ll find at any college, and it’s not a requirement listed in any job description. But it’s the role that Lisa Scherber was born to fulfill. For more than 23 years, Scherber, officially the director of patient and family programs, and her small staff have worked to bring smiles to pediatric patients and their families in the Jimmy Fund Clinic. “These kids and their families are going through one of the toughest times of their lives,” Scherber says. “If we can have just a small part of bringing just a little joy to these families, that’s a gift.”
