CowParade New England - 2023

This summer, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s Jimmy Fund is celebrating 75 years of progress and impact with a new fundraiser, CowParade New England presented by Herb Chambers. Seventy-five one-of-a-kind cow sculptures will be prominently displayed at landmarks throughout Greater Boston from June 24 through September 4. Visitors of all ages, including residents and tourists, are encouraged to visit as many cows as possible. Cows are currently available for sponsorship and select cows will be auctioned off in August to benefit the Jimmy Fund, which supports cancer research and care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

For the past several months, many artists have been transforming their cows into art pieces at VDA Inc., an experiential marketing and event design agency in Somerville, Mass. Other artists are painting at home or in other studios throughout New England. Prominent and emerging artists, ranging in age from 11 to 80 and from diverse backgrounds, are now hard at work. They are creating unique masterpieces utilizing a wide range of media from acrylic and aerosol paint to mosaic tile, metal, and recycled materials.

"We are grateful to our Jimmy Fund supporters, sponsors, local artists, and generous donors for making this celebration come to life," said Suzanne Fountain, vice president of the Jimmy Fund. "This event highlights the communities throughout New England that have supported the Jimmy Fund through its 75 years, showing that we’re all Jimmy and, together, we can continue our mission to defy cancer."

"The Herb Chambers companies are delighted to continue our longstanding partnership with Dana-Farber and the Jimmy Fund as the presenting sponsor of CowParade New England. This unique event is sure to bring lots of joy to our community while also raising funds for a great cause."

CowParade is the largest and most successful public art event in the world with 105 events in the past 24 years in more than 80 international cities. Over 15,000 artists have participated in CowParade worldwide. The transformative art installation features life-size cow sculptures which are hand-painted by a range of artists for public display and sold for the benefit of local nonprofit organizations. It is returning to the New England area for the first time since 2006, when it raised $1.1 million for the Jimmy Fund. This year’s CowParade New England is made possible with the support of its sponsors to date, including presenting sponsor Herb Chambers, as well as Coca-Cola, fairlife, HomeGoods, OOFOS, and Bond Brothers. Sponsorship opportunities are still available. Please visit cowparadenewengland.org to learn how to join the herd and own one of the art sculptures.

"We are excited for CowParade to return to Boston this year in partnership with the Jimmy Fund," said Ron Fox, senior vice president of CowParade. "The cows have proven to be a magical canvas for artists worldwide. When the artists of CowParade New England have finished painting the event’s 75 cows, their collective work will beautifully reflect the Boston and New England community."

All proceeds also benefit The Dana-Farber Campaign, the Institute’s ongoing, multi-year fundraising effort to prevent, treat, and defy cancer by accelerating revolutionary science, extraordinary care, and exceptional expertise.
